Lucky.

When I got out of my car the evening we met up for photographs, another couple walked by and noticed my camera. They remarked at what a beautiful night it was for pictures. I said, yes, so lucky. The last Thursday in September in Minnesota, and it’s 75 degrees. Absolute luck.

Something I love about photographing families is that they often come back year after year, which means I get to see kids grow and that is awesome. It just so happens that I’ve known this particular family since that cutie in the middle wasn’t walking, and that their boys play with my boy, so I’m lucky to see them way more than once a year for photographs. I’m very lucky that in spite of how often they see me, they keep asking me to photograph their wonderful kids, who I adore.

Here’s hoping some of the luck and beauty that we captured this evening sustains us all through the year (by which we Minnesotans mean, winter) ahead!
